James Watson, James Watson and Francis Crick James Dewey Watson was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. He was a precocious student, and at the University of Chicago, while only 15 He received his BA in zoology four years later and went to a Ph.D. in the same discipline at the University of Indiana to receive. If the research at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark, devoted as he learned of molecular biology research in progress at the Cavendish Laboratory at Cambridge University in England. Watson, Francis Crick went into this work in Cambridge, 1951.
Together, Watson and Crick tried on the chemical structure of living matter to be determined. If the initial investigation yielded no results, director of the laboratories were instructed to end its investigation, but continued their work in secret, February 28, was 1953 a momentous discovery.
The two scientists studied the structure of the molecule of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), which determines all living matter. In June, they published their findings in the British journal Nature. The article was a sensation. The DNA molecule, Watson and Crick had the shape of a double helix, or "found to the rear stairs slowly." The two chains decouple the helix as a zipper, and play their missing halves. Thus, each DNA molecule in a position to create two identical copies of themselves.
The first DNA and elegant model of the double helix has become world famous. How Did Watson and Crick. Their discovery revolutionized the study of biology and genetics, made possible by techniques of recombinant DNA industry.more information on biotechnology in use today
